Atlanta Diabetes Associates was established in 1984 with Dr. Paul Davidson as its founder. Over the Years, our growth has been tremendous, requiring the addition of several physicians and physician extenders to meet the growing demand of the treatment of diabetes and other endocrine disorders.
The medical specialty of endocrinology involves the diagnostic evaluation of a wide variety of symptoms and variations and the long-term management of disorders of deficiency or excess of one or more hormones. Although every organ system secrets and responds to hormones(including the brains, lungs, heart, intestine, skin and kidney), the clinical specialty of endocrinology focuses primarily on the endocrine organs, meaning the organs whose primary function is hormone secretion. These organs include the pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, ovaries, testes and pancreas.
An endocrinologist is a doctor who specializes in treating the disorders of the endocrine system, such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and many others. With your primary care physician, your endocrinologist will help to diagnose, treat and manage a variety of endocrine system disorders and diseases.
