Lisa Tolbert, RN, MN, CDCES, is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) with Atlanta Diabetes Associates. Her responsibilities include teaching diabetes self-care, which emphasizes intensive therapy, continuous insulin infusion, and continuous glucose monitoring.
Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She then attended Emory University in Atlanta, earning her Master of Nursing degree with a concentration as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.
During graduate school in 2004, she met and worked with the healthcare providers of Atlanta Diabetes Associates. Inspired by their approach to managing diabetes, she accepted a position as a CDCES after graduation and has worked in the practice for more than 30 years.
Lisa is an active member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Atlanta Networking Group of Diabetes Educators. She has also volunteered several years at Camp Kudzu, a Georgia-based camp that offers week-long, weekend, and family programs for children and their families with diabetes. Since 2000, she has been a member of the Medical Committee and a Clinician and has served on the Board of Directors.
