N. Spencer Welch, MD

Partners

Dr. Welch was born and raised in Atlanta. He received his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and then came home to Emory University for Medical School. He did his internship and residency at Emory, Grady Hospital and affiliated hospitals.

He did a chief residency at Crawford Long Hospital before doing a Fellowship in Endocrinology at Emory where he did research in development a method to measure insulin resistance in Type 2 Diabetes patients.

Since fellowship Dr. Welch has practiced for 18 years at Piedmont Hospital, helping them develop their Diabetes Resource Center, which helps all people with Diabetes to live better.

He takes a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for Diabetes which focuses not only on getting a patients blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol down, but also focuses on getting patients to develop proper lifestyles to help them live better and healthier lives

In addition to caring for Diabetes Dr. Welch practices general adult endocrinology and has a large patient population with Thyroid disorders. He also treats patients with metabolic bone disease such as osteoporosis and patients with hormone deficiencies and/or excesses resulting from pituitary or adrenal disorders. Lastly he sees men with problems relating to testosterone deficiency, which causes loss of sex drive and or sexual functions.

Dr. Welch also practices Endocrinology and Internet Medicine through his involvement in MDVIP.
